The Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston Texas
The Hilton Americas Hotel in Houston Texas is one of the premier facilities in the state. This hotel is connected to the city's George R. Brown Convention Center and is walking distance to the city's business district, two sports stadiums, and a dining and entertainment district. Both the SuperBowl and the All Star Game were hosted there in 2004. The hotel has two large ballrooms– the smaller of the two is 26,000 square feet and the large Grand Ballroom is 40,000 square feet – as well as smaller meeting rooms for a total of 93,500 square feet of meeting space. The hotel is host to many works of art from the light fixtures to the carpeting, so the operable partitions had to follow suit. The application to the two large ballrooms as well as the smaller meeting rooms needed to conform to the artistic environment.
Modernfold's 931 single panel was used with a special wallpaper application that simulated a three dimensional look that resembled draperies. When entering the ballroom, it appears as though there are curtains hung to divide the rooms, versus an operable partition, thus blending with the unique environment of the room. There was no exposed vertical trim so it appears to have smooth seamless effect. Each ballroom can be divided so that smaller events can be handled just as efficiently as larger ones. There is also the option to either open up the entire space for larger events or pull two walls closed to form a service hall for the staff. |
