The innovative Queen Creek Library opened in November 2008. More than a library, the new facility serves as a recreational center and a venue for community activities and celebrations. Intending to set Arizona’s standard for green municipal construction, the Town registered the project with the USGBC and anticipates achieving LEED Silver certification. Environmentally conscious systems and practices were used throughout. For example, a state-of-the-art heating and cooling system reduces the use of electricity while using no oil. A water retention system captures runoff, which it filters and then returns to the underground aquifer.
Prominent Features
Reliable, safe, and secure architectural hardware is essential for a municipal hub like the Queen Creek Library. To help ensure the required safe environment, contractor CORE Construction Services specified a variety of DORMA products: 8900 Series Heavy-duty Door Closers, 900 Series Heavy-Duty Stops/Holders, 9000 Series Heavy-Duty Exit Devices, Narrow Stile Exit Devices, and CL800 Series Cylindrical Locksets.
