The building in itself is a fascinating combination of interconnected shapes. Granite orthogonal blocks contrast with curved and twisted shapes covered in titanium. Glass curtain walls offer needed light and transparency. Due to its mathematical complexity, windy curves in stone, glass and titanium, were made with  a computer-aided design. Glass walls were designed and installed to protect works of art from heat and radiation.

The  “scale covering” with a half millimeter thickness of titanium covering most of the building is guaranteed to last more than one hundred years.  On the whole, the Gehry design has created a spectacular and visible structure that can be seen from any point in the city, simulating a giant structure in the middle of Bilbao.
