Convention/Civic Center - Moody Gardens Convention Center features 60,000 square feet of ballroom quality, barrier-free, exhibit space. This facility hosts tradeshows, concerts, meetings, and dinner events.
Operable partitions from Modernfold were selected to give Moody Gardens the flexibility to break this large space into smaller areas for the varying venue sizes. The unique application included 30 ft tall Modernfold 931 panels interfacing with perpendicular electric partitions. In order to make these two products work seamlessly and safely, a safety interlock switch was installed that was triggered by the lead panel of the Modernfold system, then interfaced into the electric system. With the Modernfold panels in place, the switch is activated, rendering the interfacing electric system inoperable and alleviating any concern for damage to the partition system. When the Modernfold panel is retracted, the switch is off.
Management wanted the flexibility to move the large panels into different room configurations, breaking some areas into even smaller spaces. Modernfold added additional stacking tracks, enabling the panels to be brought out in sets for different combinations of room setups, creating a perfect retrofit solution.
